US Open Day 1: Is your golf style up to par?

Today marks the start of the 2011 US Open held at Congressional Country Club. The Maryland golf course will not only feature the top golf players, but also serve as a runway for this year’s golf style.

Read on for my take on three golf fashions:

Fred Couples’ Ecco golf shoes

What do you think about these new “hip” golf shoes? Too trendy for the country club? Couples has turned into quite the trendsetter sporting these shoes on the greens. I, however, prefer the traditional looking golf shoe. The Ecco shoes look like they belong in a skatepark, not at a country club!

Argyle Vest

Will the stereotypical argyle sweater ever go out of style on the golf course? Tiger Woods donned the argyle sweater look in 2009’s President’s Cup. Although we won’t see Woods at this year’s US Open, will the argyle sweater continue its legacy on the green?

Colored Pants

With many golfers today outfitted in short-sleeved shirts and khaki pants, how many players will break the mold and stand out in a pair of colored pants? I have high hopes to see a player wearing my all time favorite Nantucket Red pants, but any color will do! It’s time to spruce up those greens…

My pick: Luke Donald’s pink and green combination at the Masters in Augusta this year!
